The Big House on Ponce, built in 1919, functioned as the “Shady Rest Inn” in the 1920s: a hotel on the busy street of Ponce de Leon Ave in Atlanta, Georgia. Since its conception, the house has been occupied by a wide variety of inhabitants and guests, and consequently has collected an eclectic array of paintings, knick knacks, and other quirky treasures.
Today the house functions as an art center and Airbnb destination. In addition to the main house, which is three stories, the space also features the back house theater and beautiful green space.
We are proud and honored to continue to further the house’s mission to provide a haven for creatives, independent scholars, and activists. The house and theater host events such as (but not limited to) music shows, film screenings, art openings, educational panels, parties and weddings. The possibilities are endless.
